Release your compassion, every day

This is where your compassion gets a work out; practical, accessible, challenging – these pages are all of the above. Every couple of months we'll have a new campaign for you to join in and twice a year we'll be releasing a new Quit – something to give up to show how we can start to stand alongside the poorest of the poor.

CompassionArt Quits

There might be miles and oceans between us, but we're connected to the rest of the world – the people as well as the places. Because of this every few months we roll out a new Quit – something that we give up to show that we're living life for someone other than ourselves. Join us – and let us know how you're getting on.

Quit one

Current estimates suggest that there are around 33.2 million people living with HIV globally – and 95% of those affected live in low income countries. In 2007, 2.1 million people died from AIDS-related illnesses and there were 2.5 million new infections. 2 out of 3 people who need treatment are unable to access it. But treatments – known as ARVs - can dramatically improve and prolong the life of someone living with HIV.

One of the side effects of ARV treatment is hair loss. Perhaps it's a small price to pay for a life rescued, but it's yet another sign to the rest of the community that something's different – and not quite right – for the person taking ARV treatment.

Our compassion won't let us ignore this. As well as funding projects working directly with those living with HIV, we want to show our solidarity with those trying to fight this horrific virus.

So we're asking people to shave their heads. When people ask why, tell them about the numbers. Tell them about your compassion. Tell them about your belief that no one should suffer alone.
